Chair of HURIDOCS (Geneva) and Professor for Peace Education at Leeds Metropolitan University. Expert adviser to the European Parliament and UN agencies on emerging technologies, governance and human rights documentation.

Eddie Halpin is Chair of the Geneva-based organisation HURIDOCS (Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems). He is also Professor for Peace Education at Leeds Metropolitan University and Associate Director of the Centre for the Study of Information and Technology in Peace, Conflict Resolution and Human Rights.

He has worked as an expert for the European Parliament’s Scientific and Technical Options (STOA) Unit, the Child Rights Information Network (CRIN) and the Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children. He has also undertaken research funded by a range of organisations, including the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.

He has a background in politics, community development and social informatics. His work focuses on how emerging technologies impact decision-making and governance.
